There is a new book out titled: The Death of Expertise.  The subtitle is “The Campaign Against Established Knowledge and Why it Matters”.  The book deals primarily with politics and reviewers have labeled it “unexceptional”, so I am not recommending that you read it.  However, the title also is applicable to what has been happening in the world of estate planning.

Since the advent of Legal Zoom and the proliferation of online estate planning forms, there has been a rapid decline in the quality of estate planning. We are litigating virtually every day over legally inaccurate “do it yourself” wills.  Or, worse, families are attempting to circumvent the legal system altogether and distribute property illegally.  Even when caught by a disgruntled sibling and hauled into court, they are unrepentant.

We presently have (at least) two cases where legal fees will eat up the entire estate. Yet the families won’t stop fighting.  Don’t let this happen to your family.

Attend one of our free “Truth About Estate Planning” Workshops and learn real facts about the complexities of preparing and then implementing an estate plan that will carry out your wishes, avoid the pitfall of family disharmony and “go smoothly” for your heirs. We now are offering evening workshops. The schedule for the next quarter is in the sidebar of this newsletter.  Also, feel free to browse our prior blogs on for more valuable information.

We look forward to seeing you at our next Workshop!
